Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up Push2Run for Voice Automation

Push2Run is a powerful, free Windows application that bridges the gap between Google Assistant and your PC. It allows you to control your computer using voice commands, enabling you to launch programs, control media, or run complex scripts from anywhere.

Here is the complete guide to configuring Push2Run for seamless voice automation. Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have the following components ready: A PC running Windows 10 or 11.

A Google account connected to a Google Home device or Google Assistant on your phone.

A free PushBullet or Dropbox account to handle the communication relay. Step 1: Install Push2Run on Your PC

Download the latest version of Push2Run from the official website. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts. Open the application once installation is complete. Step 2: Set Up the Relay Service (Pushbullet Method)

Push2Run needs a service to pass commands from Google to your PC. Pushbullet is the most popular and instant option.

Go to the Pushbullet website and sign in with your Google account. Navigate to Account Settings and click Create Access Token.

Copy the long string of text generated (this is your API token). Open Push2Run, go to Tools > Options > Pushbullet.

Check the box to enable Pushbullet, paste your API token, and click OK. Step 3: Connect Google Assistant via IFTTT

Because Google Assistant cannot talk to your PC directly, IFTTT (If This Then That) acts as the translator. Create a free account on the IFTTT website. Click Create to start a new applet. Click If This (Add) and search for Google Assistant. Select Say a phrase with a text ingredient.

Under “What do you want to say?”, type something like: Tell my computer to \(</code> (The <code>\) represents your specific command). Click Then That (Add) and search for Pushbullet. Select Push a note. Set the Title to: Push2Run Set the Body to: {{TextField}} Click Create Action and then Finish to activate the applet. Step 4: Create Your First Voice Command

Now that the pipeline is built, you can create a custom automation rule in Push2Run. In the main Push2Run window, click Actions > Add.

Fill out the following fields for a test command (e.g., opening Notepad): Description: Open Notepad Listen for: open notepad Open: notepad.exe Click OK to save the card.

Ensure the main Push2Run window shows “Push2Run is running” in the bottom left corner. Step 5: Test Your Setup

Open Google Assistant on your phone or speak to your Google Home device.

Say your trigger phrase followed by your command. For example: “Hey Google, tell my computer to open notepad.”

Within two seconds, Pushbullet will relay the note, Push2Run will intercept it, and Notepad will open on your screen. To help me tailor this setup for you, tell me: Which relay service do you prefer? (Pushbullet or Dropbox?)
